Your spirit is filled with so much potential! If God revealed to you how much of that potential goes untapped, it might shock you. Andrew says in his Spirit, Soul & Body book:
You can actually die with all of the power that raised Jesus from the dead sitting untapped within you. It would be like dying of thirst while leaning against a well full of life-giving water. If you’re dominated by what you feel, your soul is agreeing with the natural realm. (p. 13)
A few weeks ago, I was listening to a teaching about living life on assignment. The speaker laid out how your Christian life can be a string of specific tasks God has for you to fulfill if you so choose. Jesus knew at twelve years old what was in Him and what to do with it: “I must be about my Father’s business” (Luke 2:49). Just like Him, you and I have to get on board with the Father’s business.
Your assignment is whatever God told you to do last, if He hasn’t given you a new assignment. And if you live life focused on that, it positions you for God to unpack your potential. This speaker continued in the teaching, saying, “You’re loaded!” Instantly that phrase stuck in my mind, repeating itself like a broken record. I began to wonder if the Holy Spirit was trying to say something to me.
My mind wandered: I wonder what God wants to unpack in me? How will that look? Is my spirit really “loaded” like this guy says?
My phone chirped, jarring me back to reality.
When the teaching finally ended, I flipped through to the texts on my phone. It was my Bible study teacher, who also happens to be a Third-Year Charis student (shameless plug!). She had sent me a message around the time I was questioning everything. Once the text opened, Psalm 68:19 glowed on my screen: “Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Selah.” Then in all caps, she had typed, “YOU’RE LOADED!”
My jaw dropped. Okay, God, I got the message!
In his book, Andrew continues in the same vein:
When your soul agrees with your spirit, the life of God in you will manifest itself in your physical body. You’ll experience healing, deliverance, anointing, victory, power, joy, prosperity—on and on it goes. Since most Christians don’t have a working knowledge of spirit, soul, and body, they’re dominated by what they can see, taste, hear, smell, and feel instead of by God’s Word. (p. 14)
Being dominated by your natural senses will make it difficult to walk in your Father’s business—living on assignment. But if you have given your life to Christ, then guess what? You realize you’re loaded too! Your spirit is bursting at the seams with spiritual gifts, creative ideas, power, hidden treasures, and so much more that God wants to explore with you. Consider this from Andrew’s Spirit, Soul & Body teaching:
I’ve recognized that the Christian life isn’t a process of “getting from God.” Instead, it’s a process of renewing my mind and learning to release what I’ve already received. It’s much easier to release something I’ve already got than to go get something I don’t yet have! (p. 15)
If you’re wondering why things aren’t coming together in your life, then it’s possible you’re not fulfilling the assignment your Father gave you. Discover the potential that He has put in your spirit, and learn how to release it. Andrew’s Spirit, Soul & Body teaching is a practical explanation for how that process works.
