God has given you the responsibility to oversee your own life.
Even though it’s our responsibility, we can rely on God’s grace, God’s promises, God’s Word, God’s nature inside us, and the Holy Spirit to guide and comfort us along the way. We can all choose the direction of our lives. Praise God!
Since we can each shape our own futures, the question is how do we exercise that power?
“A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good things, and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things.”
Matthew 12:35
A person’s future is shaped in their heart, and this is true of both good and evil people. So what’s in your heart?
Whether you realize it or not, your future is being formed from within your own heart. The words you speak, the thoughts you think, and the actions you take all come from what’s in your heart (Prov. 4:23). Your words, thoughts, and actions are seeds that are being sown into your heart, reproducing after their source.
You control what you think, say, and do.
Like it or not, what’s in your heart is shaping your future.
Your present reality is the harvest of all the seeds you’ve allowed to take root in your heart throughout your life. So if you don’t like your current harvest, you can change the seeds you’re sowing today. Words have power. You can speak life and begin shaping your future in a positive way.
Matthew 6:33 says to seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and then all our needs will be met. Prioritize God’s Word and His kingdom in your life. Spend time in the Word, purify your heart, and grow in your relationship with the Father. Doing so will shape your future—in a positive direction.
Being a follower of Jesus is all about shaping your life according to God’s Word. Charis Bible College teaches students how to change their lives so they can change the world. When you put God’s Word and your relationship with Him first in your life, you’ll start to see God’s goodness in ways you’ve never seen before.
